North Idaho College will host its second annual Accessibility Camp Coeur d’Alene Aug. 3 and 4 on NIC’s main campus in Coeur d’Alene. The event is open to the public.

The symposium features presentations by a number of local, regional and international speakers on specialized and technical tracks in accessibility, as well as stories of passion in accessibility.

Event topics range from preparing youth for higher education to accessibility in the workplace; from accessible international events to big wave surfing.

Speakers include representatives from the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Washington State Department of Services for the Blind, British Assistive Technology Association, Buck Knives, Project SEARCH, Miss Wheelchair USA, Global Accessibility Awareness Day Foundation, Idaho State University, American University of Beirut and North Idaho College.

“Accessibility Camp Cd’A brings people from around the world together to help get NIC staff, faculty and students the resources they need to start building their digital resources to be as universally designed as possible,” said NIC IT Accessibility Coordinator Jeremy Seda, who organizes the event. “This year, we are putting a little spin on the event with the passion track. It is something that I have seen as a missing link with accessibility in higher education.”

The symposium also features breakfast, lunch, snacks and after-hours networking events for registered participants.

Registration for the two-day symposium is open to the public and costs $50. Participants must register at www.nic.edu/a11ycamp, and registration closes Friday, July 29.

For more information, accommodation requests or questions about physical access during the event, contact NIC IT Accessibility Coordinator Jeremy Seda at (208) 929-4030 or Jeremy.Seda@nic.edu.
