Details:
This workshop focuses on waste generated and accumulated in shop and maintenance areas including agriculture, art & engineering shops, etc.
Topics covered include environmental regulations; managing environmental waste in Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAAs), including universal waste (i.e., lamps, batteries, aerosol cans, mercury containing equipment and pesticides), used oil/antifreeze; submitting waste to EHS; waste minimization; and chemical release recognition and spill response.
To enroll in the training, please email Mark Borth at borth@uidaho.edu and specify the course title and date you wish to attend.
Employees who have already taken (or are required to take) the Hazardous Waste Management Workshop for Labs or have taken the workshop for shops and maintenance within 5 years, do not need to take this workshop. It meets the university’s training requirement in APM 35.40 – Hazardous Waste Management for employees that handle hazardous materials/waste and do NOT work in a laboratory setting.
